About Freddie & Christy

Freddie and Christy

Meet Freddie

Freddie was found in a field by himself in March of 2021. A kind person scooped him up and took him to the county shelter where my husband and I were volunteer dog walkers.

During my next shift (thankfully the same day he was brought to the shelter), I saw the cutest puppy ever playing with another volunteer and I knew he was meant to be in our family.

After his five-day stray hold, he came home. Freddie immediately LOVED to play fetch in our long hallway, was mesmerized by his feline siblings, thoroughly enjoyed training as long as treats were involved, and mastered the art of cuddling with his new parents.

Freddie is part Chihuahua, Pekingese, Maltese, Pug, Dachshund, Poodle, and Supermutt. We always say that his body looks like it’s made of a bunch of spare dog parts. His head is small, his body is long, his front legs are shorter than his rear, and his tail is crooked.

But he’s perfect

In the spring of 2022, Freddie started exhibiting hind leg weakness. This progressed to his losing the ability to walk on his own. His neurologist diagnosed him with a rare condition called Mitochondrial Myopathy.

Freddie also has Megaesophagus, which his neurologist believes is a sign of MM progression. So, Freddie now eats his meals in a Bailey Chair

At only about four years old, Freddie’s been through a lot! He has two strollers, so he can still go outside and sniff the world.

Freddie’s favorite things are me, his Dad, his four feline siblings, blankets, pillows, the couch, grass on a sunny day, and cuddling.

Freddie’s most hated thing: Squirrels in his yard.

Meet Christy

Christy is experiencing a life shift and pursuing a new identity. Up until 2021, she had been a dancer for 40 years and a dance educator for 25 years. She now fully embraces her role as a wife and caretaker to Freddie and his six furry siblings.

She also recently ventured into the small business world by launching an independent online eyewear shop with the help of her expert optician colleague.

Christy’s favorite things are her family, water, trees, fall, coffee, and helping others.

Christy’s most hated thing: Doorbell sounds in commercials.

Thank you for being here!
